Technologies
In its five Technical Competence Centres (TCC), vgbe deals with the essential technologies of power and heat generation as well as energy storage and sector coupling. Our focus is on hydrogen, hydropower, wind energy, photovoltaics, storage technologies, gas, solid fuels (biomass, coal, waste) and nuclear energy.
HYDROPOWER
The hydropower sector plays a crucial role in delivering the EU's climate, environmental and security of supply goals and is supporting the transition to more green energy in Europe.
WIND POWER
By 2050, the EU wants to be the world's first climate-neutral continent . In order to be able to meet these targets within the framework of the energy and climate package, the expansion of renewable energies, and here in particular of wind energy, is imperative.
Photovoltaics
In the Technical Committee “Photovoltaics,” vgbe energy facilitates communication and expert exchange on its network platform for all issues relating to technology, operation and plant safety of energy generation plants.
Storage Technologies
The exchange of experience and, in particular, the development of practice-oriented solutions for the operation of storage technologies form a mainstay of our association’s activities. vgbe energy provides support with operational management, maintenance and plant optimisation as well as with techno-economic, ecological and strategic challenges.
NUCLEAR POWER
Since the 1980s, the TCC "Nuclear Energy" has been concerned with the exchange of experience, especially in the fields of plant operation and safety, technology, radiation protection, post-operation, dismantling, development of rules and regulations and other safety-relevant technical issues.
vgbe Awards
With its awards, vgbe wants to draw the attention of the industry and the interested public to precisely those topics that are of great importance to companies operating in the field of electricity and heat generation and storage.
