A vgbe & DNV project – Reliability indicators with KISSY new data 2009 to 2020
Failures in power plants can be costly and efforts should be directed to prevent such events. Methods using Reliability Availability Maintainability (RAM) tools are well known to answer questions on target values for reliability and availability of a plant, capacity expansion planning, optimum redundancy, maintenance optimisation, spare parts management etc.. However, such RAM tools need high quality reliability data for input. Only a few projects support the collection of such data, also worldwide and especially for a longer period of time.
The vgbe has been collecting high-quality raw data for unavailability and availability of energy plants for decades with the database vgbe Power Plant Information System (KISSY). Raw data are among others unavailability incidents representing component failures at different types of power plants. . The raw input data are provided by ordinary vgbe members. IIn this report “Reliability indicators with KISSY new data 2009 to 2020”, reliability data such as the failure rate as well as the average repair time are calculated and used. It should be noted that outliers were automatically indicated but not taken into account in trend analyses. For the evaluation, the current events in the KISSY database from the years 2009 to 2020 were chosen.
The data is collected according to the definitions published in the series of VGBE Standard VGB-S-002, which is available free of charge in the public part of the document database “vgbe pulse”
This report is available as an electronic PDF-document (ebook) of 1,167 pages. The largest part of the report consists of evaluations of various components that are identified by the power plant identification system (based and referenced on Kraftwerk-Kennzeichensystem – KKS function keys) and are used in different types of power plants (hard coal and lignite-fired power plants as well as combined cycle plants).
