The aim of the test runs was to determine the technical minimum load and the ramp rates of the power plant, which has an installed capacity of 320 MW (2 units) and is based on fluidised bed boiler technology. Both test runs were conducted successfully without any technical issues. The lowest technical minimum load achieved was 34% and the highest ramp rate applied was 4 MW per minute. Both test runs were conducted in auto mode without any manual intervention. The high level of automation at the power plant represents a very good prerequisite for flexible operation.
The test runs were part of the activities under the auspices of the Turkish-German Energy Partnership. For the last years, the vgbe had been coordinator a Working Group that focused on the flexibilization of existing thermal power plants. By demonstrating the technical feasibility of flexible power plant operation, the mixed team has accomplished a key mission of the Working Group. Beside this technical achievement all persons involved appreciated the excellent cooperation between the EÜAŞ and vgbe team. The vgbe team was supported by its members RWE and Siemens.
