“Pioneers of the Energy Transition” – this was the motto of two events that took place on 16 October in Chennai and on 18 October in Mumbai as part of the Indo-German Energy Partnership. The aim of these workshops was to share knowledge and experience on the flexible operation of thermal power plants within the Indian electricity sector and to provide an insight into concepts for the diversification and further use (repurposing) of power plant sites. The large number of interested parties showed that these topics are of great interest – more than 300 people participated in the workshops in person and online.

The workshops were jointly organized by the Excellence Enhancement Center, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH / the Indo-German Energy Forum Support Office (IGEF-SO) and vgbe energy. This time, the vgbe team was represented by four experts: Dr. Dennis Kaczmarek (Iqony Solutions), Stefan Thanheiser (TU Vienna), Sven Göhring and Dr. Claudia Weise (vgbe). The Indian perspective was provided by contributions from the Central Electricity Authority, NTPC, regional grid operators, Steag India and Siemens.
