Pitch and networking event at the Energy Campus
The Israeli economy is characterised by its global orientation and high level of technological development. Israel is now second only to the United States in the per capita ratio of start-ups with innovative, market-oriented technology products and can be described as a start-up nation with 8,500 young companies, with a country size roughly equivalent to the German federal state of Hesse. Following the Israeli government’s commitment in 2021 to reduce Israel’s CO2 emissions and complete the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy by 2050, projects in the field of Cleantech and sustainable energy supply are on the rise. The young start-up companies are launching innovative projects, especially in the field of energy efficiency and photovoltaics, which can also help other nations identifying solutions for the transition to a renewable, climate-neutral energy supply.
The Israel Economic and Trade Mission in Berlin and the Consulate General in Munich promote the German-Israeli trade relations and technological cooperation. As part of these activities, an Israeli delegation of seven innovative companies was invited to Germany for a roadshow. Under the title “Israeli technologies for the energy transition”, this delegation also stopped at the Energy Campus in Essen on October 25, 2022. Together with the Israel Economic and Trade Mission in Berlin, the Israel Export Institute, STEAG Energy Services GmbH and vgbe energy e.V., an invitation was extended to a pitch and networking event. Thanks to its extensive network, especially in the German and European energy sector, vgbe energy e.V. was able to provide the necessary platform for this event in cooperation with the other hosts.
After the welcome address by Commercial Attaché Ester Elias and Dr. Oliver Then, Managing Director of vgbe energy e.V., as well as Jan Fischer from STEAG Energy Services GmbH, the representatives of the Israeli companies
- Tigi | Solar thermal collectors with particularly high efficiency
- Luminiscent | Efficient heat engines for waste heat utilisation
- Augwind | Modular energy storage systems using compressed air
- Brenmiller Energy | Granular-based thermal energy storage systems
- FSight | AI-based solution for decentralised energy management
- Airovation Technologies | Carbon Capture
- Enwize | Process software for plant maintenance
had the opportunity to present their groundbreaking products and services.
Following the presentations, there was ample space for intensive networking, which was seen as a real win-win situation by the around 40 participants. Thanks to the selected group of participants, the representatives of the Israeli companies and the experts from the energy sector had the opportunity to extensively discuss the issues surrounding a sustainable, innovative and secure energy supply and to establish future-oriented, further contacts. At the end of the successful event, the vgbe claim be connected could be completed by be informed, be inspired and be energised.
