The tour was jointly organized by the vgbe and the German-Turkish Chamber of Commerce in Istanbul (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dtr-ihk.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AHK<\/a>), under the auspices of the Turkish-German Energy Partnership. The delegation \u2013 led by Dr. Izzet Alag\u00f6z, General Manager of the Electricity Generation Corporation E\u00dcAS \u2013 was especially interested in the flexible operation of thermal power plants. E\u00dcAS is the largest public electricity supplier in T\u00fcrkiye and operates coal-fired and gas power plants, as well as wind energy and hydropower plants.<\/p>\n<p>The 4-day programme started with a workshop conducted by vgbe and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kws-eg.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KWS<\/a>, with the support of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rwe.com\/der-konzern\/organisationsstruktur\/rwe-ti\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RWE Technology<\/a>. All the participants agreed that qualified and skilled personnel are key to transforming the energy system in general, and to operating thermal power plants in particular. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dena.de\/startseite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">German Energy Agency dena<\/a> has been assigned to coordinate the German activities of the energy partnership in cooperation with AHK, on behalf of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmwk.de\/Navigation\/DE\/Home\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Germany\u2019s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A pre-feasibility study, which is underway at T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s &#8220;18 Mart \u00c7an Termik Santrali&#8221; power plant, represents another milestone in WG 5\u2019s work programme. The objective of this study is to develop an implementation plan for the flexibilization of the plant.
